Everything you feel is welcome, valid, and real. Together, we will notice where feelings and memories live in your body. By practicing a whole-body mindfulness we will tap into the you that may be hidden beneath the surface, and make you feel safe in the world around you. We will explore the vast ocean of your mind-body and in so doing unearth a deep knowledge of yourself, self-love, pleasure, and empowerment.

I believe that unconditional self-love, compassion, and connection with our internal emotional landscapes can allow each of us to enjoy our lives regardless of the systems of oppression that press upon us from the larger world. Powers greater than ourselves may try to break our spirits, but we can be resilient and continue to rise up again each morning to face the world and make it a better place. Every human being is valuable and worthy of love and respect, and I offer that to you as we walk side by side in your healing journey.

Meet Our Team

Em Rea, MSW (they/them)

I come to Beacon of Hope from 8 years working in art studios with neurodiverse artists. Rooted firmly in the Disability Justice movement, and a member of the crip community myself, I bring my expertise as a therapist, care worker, artist, and as a disabled queer and trans person to my work at Beacon of Hope.

I hold two Master’s Degrees in Social Work and Fine Art from the University of Pennsylvania, and am a current student of Somatic Experiencing, Expressive Movement, and the Expressive Arts at the Leven Institute. I use a soft and compassionate person-centered approach to trauma therapy grounded in neuroscience and polyvagal theory. I listen to and affirm your experiences.
